Hello Girlfriends!

Hello Girlfriends!

My awesome girlfriends from Stanford Executive Program suggested that I start a blog because I love to talk about skincare, cosmetics, etc.  Given that we are not getting any younger and there are so many new products out there, we (“we” meaning “mature” ladies) should share about what works and what doesn’t.  You see all these tweets of young women and youtube videos on make up tutorials — they all look amazing, but as we age, some of us will mature more gracefully than others (and usually it is because we got some type of help)!  [By the way, I’m not a big fan of tweeting selfies … I think it is tough on the young girls who see it and think that they need to look like that.  Most of the selfies are photoshopped anyway.  I will talk about that in another blog.]

For my first blog, I will introduce myself.  I am a woman who (i) is in her 40s, (ii) has two amazing sons (one is 21 and the other is 18), (iii) has been married to my loving husband for 11 years and still going strong (if you can do the math, you will know that this must be my second marriage), (iv) has been living in Hong Kong for 21 years, (v) works at a securities house and (vi) loves to mentor young women.  And one of the things that I love the most is SKINCARE — i.e., trying new products, seeing my sister who is a dermatologist in San Carlos and trying her latest stuff, talking to girlfriends about the latest skincare, reading New Beauty Magazine and now writing about all of this.  As a Korean American, I like knowing what is happening in Korea and in America.  So it is fun to watch the Korean dramas, get the latest on what is “hot” in Korea, but at the same time, try the innovative things that comes out from the US (e.g., home care systems and certain vitamin supplements).

Now going back to how this blog came about … I was just in Denver at a women’s reunion of the SEP class of 2013.  Nine of us attended (there were 21 women in the program).  Not a great attendance rate (most of the 21 women live outside the US), but it didn’t matter because we had such a fantastic time.  Jacque was the hostess and her house was gorgeous!  Huge home with lots of bedrooms and a beautiful swimming pool.   We had ladies from around the world, including Sweden, France and of course, Hong Kong.   Every night, we would sit outside by the pool for dinner, and during dinner we would talk about what all women always talk about … skincare, make up, etc. (okay, yes, we talked about sex as well).  One night,  I told them about my favorite skincare cream, which is currently a snail cream by Tony Moly (a Korean brand that makes the best snail cream), lip balm and vitamin supplements.  My friends suggested that I start writing a blog and they said that they will definitely read it.  So …. here we go …!!

BTW, I am still trying to figure out how to change the pictures on the website, so bear with me.
